President George W. Bush Recognizes OMCO During Visit
US President Greets OMCO President Earlier in the Day
Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA, 14 July 2004 - In a visit to Wisconsin today, President George W. Bush recognized the growth of local company Oconomowoc Manufacturing Corp. (OMCO) during a speech delivered at the Waukesha County Expo Center. In his speech, President Bush mentioned his early morning meeting with OMCO's President, Kyle C. Stoehr, and recognized OMCO as a Wisconsin small business that has successfully taken advantage of various economic policies developed and implemented by President Bush to expand its business and create additional jobs.
OMCO, which since 1964 has been based in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, just 30 miles west of Milwaukee, is a leading U.S. manufacturer and supplier of motion products, including unground bearings, ground bearings, integrated bearing assemblies, conveyor system components, casters and wheels, and certain other manufactured components. OMCO's motion products are used for applications in the Material Handling, Sliding Doors & Windows, Furniture, Food & Beverage Equipment, and Automotive industries, among others.
Responding to his recognition by President Bush, Mr. Stoehr said, "President Bush's economic policies over the last several years have enabled OMCO to return to a pattern of continued growth and profitability. In 2003, among other things, we earned ISO 9001:2000 certification, doubled the size of our facility, were issued our first patent, increased sales by 40.0%, and lowered product costs, all while increasing jobs. All these achievements would not have been possible in the absence of the broader stimulus provided to the nation's economy by President Bush's policies. This year, we expect to be able to further invest in new machinery, technology, and personnel. We are hopeful that President Bush will be able to continue in office for another four years, thereby enabling us to continue to expand our business, and to create additional jobs here in southeastern Wisconsin."
Earlier in the day, Mr. Stoehr was one of a select group of Milwaukee-area individuals invited to meet with President Bush at Milwaukee's Pfister hotel.
Earlier this year, OMCO was recognized for business excellence by the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce business lobby, which awarded OMCO one of five Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Grand Awards for overall outstanding achievement in the Small Company category. That was the third time OMCO was a recipient of a Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Award, having previously received awards in 1992 and 1989, and it placed OMCO in prestigious company, as also honored was GE Medical Systems - Information Technologies.
